Re: 45 Colt, 135 grain bullet
IME, there is a definite point at which bearing surface is reduced due to less bullet weight that impacts flight stability. Lighter bullets in my 45 Colt rifles have been prone to tumbling. Mind you, almost all of my shooting less than 200 grain bullets have been lead alloy, from about 10-12 Bhn to ...

All of the above demonstrate why I don't shoot over, under or out of my car/truck... Not because I'm all that bright... just cognizant that Murphy was an optimist! Although as part of our firearms training we had to demonstrate that we could do so from a squad car... shotgun & handguns.

If y'all could have just one, what would you choose? I think I know how some will answer. 8) I suppose I would opt for the 4-5/8" .357 3-screw I had at one time. Traded it off for a .30-30 Marlin, which I gifted my dad, who in turn traded that off to my cousin in exchange for Ruger 10-22, whic...

My first revolver as a deputy was a mdl 10. I then got the loan of a nickel mdl 19 and carried it for a number of years until the owner wanted it back... didn't need it until she got a new job and needed a .357 revolver. I replaced it with a new mdl 65 about 1986 and carried it with two departments....

After I got out of the service I learned horseshoeing at La Puente Adult High School in CA. One rancher kept a stable of mules and would bring in several to be shod at a time (usually 4).
